About Us

Barbara J. Hughes Memorial Fund is a non profit founded with a goal to provide scholarships to students in Torrance Unified School District. The funds will help ease the cost of college tuition as they graduate from High School. After Barbara's long battle with cancer, we wanted to extend the love Barbara had for her students and her school site where she worked for twenty one years as a third and fourth grade teacher. Barbara loved teaching at Edison Elementary and always found a way to make memorable experiences for her students. Our mission is to help students achieve their academic goals in Barbara's name; knowing her passion for helping students will remain for years to come.
