Mission Statement

​

Barbara J. Hughes Memorial Fund was founded to provide educational benefits for students in Torrance Unified School District who wish to attend accredited higher educational institutions; universities, community colleges, or trade schools.

 

Barbara taught for 21 years at Edison Elementary in Torrance, California, a Title I school. For a school to qualify as a Title I school, 75% of the student population must be living at or near the poverty level. Contributing to Barbara J. Hughes Memorial Fund will help hard working ambitious students accomplish their goals and reach their aspirations.
